AI Spin (Spintax Generation) Feature

AI Spin is an optional, PRO-only feature of the QuicDM extension. When you write a DM draft and click “AI Spin,” the extension asks our server to rewrite your draft into a Spintax template (for example, {Hi|Hey|Hello}) so that each recipient receives a varied message. The random selection of one Spintax variant per message happens locally in your browser at send time and is not transmitted to our servers.

What you send

When you trigger AI Spin, the extension sends the following to our server (ai-spin.php) over HTTPS:

  • Your PRO token (and, where applicable, a trial signature) — used solely to authenticate you and verify your subscription. The token is never stored in plaintext for this feature; the daily quota is keyed by a SHA-256 hash of your token.
  • Your UI locale — used only as an optional cultural tone hint and for aggregate analytics. It is never used to translate your draft.
  • The draft text you wrote — this is the content that the AI model processes to produce the Spintax output.

Third-party AI providers

To generate the Spintax, our server forwards your draft text to a third-party AI model provider. We use Google Gemini (model gemini-2.5-flash-lite) as the primary provider and Groq (model llama-3.3-70b-versatile) as an automatic fallback if the primary is unavailable. Your draft is transmitted to and processed by the selected provider solely for the purpose of producing the Spintax output. The provider may process your draft in accordance with its own privacy practices, which we encourage you to review:

We do not select which provider receives your draft based on its content; the choice depends only on availability and configuration on our server.

What we do not store

We do not persist your draft text or the generated Spintax in our database. The only server-side records created by an AI Spin request are:

  • A per-token daily counter used to enforce the daily quota. It is stored as a temporary file named with the current UTC date and a SHA-256 hash of your token — never your token itself, and never your draft — and is discarded as the file rotates.
  • A short server error-log entry containing only a random request identifier (usage_id) and a numeric model code (1 or 2). No draft content, username, or personal data is written to the log.

Your controls

  • AI Spin requires an active PRO subscription (or a valid trial) and is never triggered automatically — it only runs when you click the button.
  • The first time you use AI Spin, the extension shows a disclosure explaining what is sent and to whom. You must explicitly agree before any draft leaves your device.
  • If you decline the disclosure, AI Spin is not used and none of your drafts are sent to us or to any third-party AI provider. All other features of the extension continue to work.
  • You can always write Spintax manually in the template box instead of using AI Spin.

Daily quota

To keep the service stable and fair, each PRO token is limited to a default of 80 successful AI Spin generations per UTC day. Only successful generations count toward the quota; failed or blocked requests do not.
